Date: 9/11/01
Time: Between 9:38 and 9:44
Photographer: Unknown
DESCRIPTION:
9:38 was the aircraft impact. This was taken before MWAA Foam 331
arrived at 9:44 (see Fire Response page). It is taken directly in the flight path.
Just to the left of the highway sign was the first of 5 lamp poles knocked down.
KEY NOTES:
If you look closely immediately to the left of the highway sign pole you can see the front
end of the cab that was struck in the windshield by pieces of the lamp pole (see Lamp Poles page).
Also note that they would have had to dip down and level out in a relatively short distance
in order to strike where they did without touching the lawn. Remember the aircraft was reported to being doing 345 mph (506 feet per second).
