DESCRIPTION: The other side of the impact hole.

KEY NOTES: The white line in the center marks where the renovation stopped. You can very clearly see the difference between the blast resistant windows and the old windows. The red line is where the building collapsed. This was an expansion joint. The floors and walls were not joined by rebar so the building would be able to expand/contract here. The impact side literally "slipped" away causing a hinge effect. The debris from the construction trailer are very obvious, but 43,800 pounds of left wing and fuel are not. In other photos much of what is being considered aircraft debris is actually this trailer. Notice how the fence is blown out from the building. One baffling aspect to this is how the Jeep Grand Cherokee nearest to the impact is literally untouched except for a small amount of fire. Even from the other side not a taillight or window is broken.

DESCRIPTION: Taken just behind where the photographer was standing in the above photo. That's the heliport tower to the left.

KEY NOTES: That is Foam 161 of the Fort Myer Fire Department. It was on scene at the time of impact. Firefighters Mark Skipper and Alan Wallace were preparing for the scheduled landing of President Bush after his return from reading in Florida. This Pentagon visit was scheduled prior to the attacks and to take place around noon. Both firefighters received burns and lacerations. The bottom doors are open because the firefighters stripped the equipment after the impact. Notice it's the rear of the engine that is burned and that none of the side glass is broken.
