Line in the Grass

This is a subject that entangles a few Pentagon researchers. Some suggest it was a marking system to indicate where to strike the Pentagon. The biggest problem with this theory is that it would have to have been a visual signal. The idea of facing death at 345 mph crashing through light poles and concentrating on hitting the building at low altitude while relying on a faint marking in the grass to guide you seems improbable.

The other option is that it was to be viewed from altitude as a pre-guide. The high G-force maneuver and altitude drop executed to change directions and the other demands of piloting an aircraft make spotting this unlikely. What if you looked at the wrong trail? What if it was cloudy? If anything was guided into the structure it seems that in this day and age it would have been electronically controlled.

1) At this time the helipad had a Maltese cross on it.
2) You can see a path in the grass clear back in 1994 that was headed northwest. It ends just south of the first tree.

1) Note the old fire station and helipad control tower.
2) It’s hard to see in this but the helipad now has an “H” on it.
3) There are vehicles in the lawn area.
4) The construction area is not fenced off yet.
5) This photo is a classic example of how a telephoto lens compresses the image. Everything seems shorter.
6) It seems that the path is still headed to the northwest.

1) I am assuming this photo is more recent than the one above since the path clearly moves to the southwest now.
2) Keep in mind that each spring new grass would grow and wear down again in the winter.

1) Since the project to reinforce the wall is underway now you can see the construction area is fenced off. This construction would have been obvious to anybody casing the Pentagon for over three years before the attack.
2) This is also a good view to see how all four other sides of the pentagon were wide open for attack including the front of the building where the top officials have their offices. Even diving into the walls from the center would have been easier and more destructive.
3) You can see the path heading to the southwest still.
4) There is something out on the lawn – possibly a vehicle.

1) This is a very telling photo regarding the prior wear of the area.
2) The helicopter would have had foot and probably vehicle traffic in and out. I don’t know why the helicopter is there instead of the pad.
3) I notice there is another path and worn spot on the sidewalk area in front of the helicopter. Perhaps that is the old path from the original photos since it is to the northwest and ends in front of the first tree.
4) The white squares are utility man holes (see inset). So it is reasonable to assume that there was a ditch dug between them that settled at one point.
5) There is now asphalt and a parking area near the heliport that wasn’t originally there in the pre-1998 photos.

1) This is yet another helicopter 3 months later in the same spot. You can see the wear on the pilot’s side that would indicate the frequency of landings in this spot.
2) Notice how the asphalt near the heliport is dirty from wear now.
3) The path to the northwest is not evident any more.
4) The lamp pole in the center of the photo was the 5th one knocked down.
5) The heliport and fire station are still separate buildings.

1) This is how the area looked 4 days prior to 9/11.
2) The curved line just to the left of the path looks to be where vehicles have driven. I can imagine that if it was muddy they would pick dignitaries up at the helicopters.
3) Note the dark spot near the heliport (man holes), the dirt patches and the line on the lawn north of the helipad as well.
4) This has been a construction area for over three years now.

1) This is the same configuration on the north lawn as on the south lawn.
2) It is an obvious ditch with man holes in between.
3) This supports the ditch theory on the south lawn.
4) It is clear in this photo now that the heliport and the fire station has been combined.

1) These are the man holes and the dirt seen near the heliport in the photo above.
2) The filled in ditch is also visible to the right of these in the larger photo.

CONCLUSION:
The line in the grass has too many reasonable explanations to be of any importance to 9/11 research. It does not prove or disprove anything regarding what did or did not hit the Pentagon. In any case there was a path clear back in 1994 and sometime prior to 1998 it was in the same spot we saw it 4 days prior to 9/11. Both lawns had the exact same configuration related to man holes and ditching.
