VDOT Traffic camera View

This camera is just about 75 feet from where the aircraft was said to have
struck lamp pole number 1 with the right wing. In fact, that is the replacement for lamp pole 1 in the foreground.
This camera would have recorded at least one or two frames of an aircraft.

Here we can see the proximity of the camera tower to where lamp pole number 1 was knocked down
on the cab from two different views. At the bottom of the page you can see a recent aerial photograph courtesy of Google Maps.
I made an inquiry into the camera information and the following response is what I received from the VDOT:
Russell,
In reference to your Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request seeking video images, etc. from VDOT's traffic
monitoring cameras on the morning of 9/11/2001, we do not have any such documentation available. We do not record
the images as seen by the traffic cameras.
Regarding the question about the web images, we do not provide these, nor do we record them. They are provided by
a private company called Trafficland (www.trafficland.com) and any questions concerning their web video feeds
should be deferred to them for response.
I regret that we do not have the information you seek, but wish you well in your endeavor.
