D.O.D. VIDEO

UPDATE PROGRESS: As you know the DoD released 2 videos on May 17, 2006. The first one was just the frames before and after the five frames mentioned on this page. There were no new frames released in between these original five.

The second video they released was from a slightly different perspective. If you look at the box in the foreground that blocks the view of whatever object is in the original five frames, you will see where the new view is taken from. That box has a video camera embedded in it to monitor that lane of traffic into the Pentagon north parking lot.

I am leaving this page as it was for now so you can see what the original situation was. To the right in the sidebar entitled New Video you can see my preliminary observations on the new video. At the bottom of that page is a link to the Dod website to get the original video for yourself.

Look in the menu sidebar for Video Evidence to see the new page on that subject. I am finishing some research and getting permission to use certain materials to finish a page just on the new video too. There will be some interesting revelations.

ORIGINAL PAGE: The single most important evidence in this case is that the U.S. Government REFUSES to release any of the video evidence from the Pentagon. They have the Pentagon Security videos from all over the front of the building, the VDOT traffic camera videos, and videos that the FBI confiscated from civilian businesses. To see the ongoing legal case that the government is fighting to NOT RELEASE the videos go here. The documents show that in their first responses they claimed to have no video. Why?

It was very interesting to me that none of these 5 video frames was submitted as evidence in the Zacarias Moussaoui trial. They submitted some insignificant photos and some very sad photos of deceased victims but not these. The reason the FBI stated for not releasing this video was, "This provision concerns records or information compiled for law enforcement purposes, the release of which could reasonably be expected to interfere with enforcement proceedings." The trial IS the enforcement proceeding. They released the Flight 93 tape and transcripts they've been hiding for over 4 years. It seems to me that a new video of a plane striking the Pentagon would be more convincing than a scratchy cockpit voice recording that was so inaudible it had to be subtitled for the jury.

"The Department of Defense on Thursday released a series of photos taken by a security camera that show the fireball from a hijacked airliner crashing into the Pentagon on September 11." CNN

"Officials could not immediately explain why the date typed near the bottom of each photograph is Sept. 12 and the time is written as 5:37 p.m. The attack happened at about 9:37 a.m. on Sept. 11. Officials said it was possible that the date and time were added the day after the attack when they may have been catalogued for investigative purposes." Daily Herald

The last line is comical. Unless they added the times and titles to all 5 frames in under 4 seconds that explanation makes no sense. I don't know what they did but I will operate on the time separations being accurate because the action in the frames corresponds to what you would expect. I will only give a cursory evaluation of these frames since I lack video expertise. We have 5 frames which cover a 4 second period. The first 2 frames occur in the same second, the third frame is 2 seconds later, the fourth frame is 1 second after that, and the fifth frame is another second after that. This means that many frames are missing including any that show a clear profile of the aircraft. Security cameras shoot from 15 frames per second (fps) to 120 fps. We've only been allowed a fraction of a second view selectively controlled with the wrong date and time stamp after originally denying they had any video at all.

What really gets me personally is that right now somewhere, someone who presumably tries to sleep at night is sitting out there knowing they're responsible for these 5 frames. They decided what frames to show, they chose the frame with the aircraft hidden while seeing the frame where it was profiled clearly, they altered at least one frame, and then they leaked it to the media thinking that it would satisfy the average American. Observations on each frame can be viewed by clicking to the right.
