LIFE AFTER 9/11

Do you remember September 10th, 2001?

Way back when you could spend an extra hour or so with a loved one at the airport and WMD wasn't a household word? When the United States wasn't known for torture? When you didn't wonder about the privacy of your phone call? When it wasn't illegal not to reveal your identity to a police officer without probable cause? When private property was still private and you weren't frightened of backpacks?

What? You didn't know it was illegal not to give your name to a police officer? In June of 2004 that was made law (Source). That and many other laws have been slipped passed us quietly for use in the future. What if you tell your name to the officer but don't have ID to prove it? Guess what's next? A law to carry your ID. And by coincidence we'll have a Nationalized ID card to be carrying when that happens. The REAL ID Act goes into effect May, 2008.

The REAL ID Act was passed in May, 2005. You won't be able to drive, fly, open a bank account, collect Social Security, or go into certain federal buildings without one. The bill was passed quietly wrapped in an emergency spending bill for the Iraq war. It has to have a "common machine-readable technology" that Homeland Security will decide on. Have you read the Patriot Act? Among many other provisions, the FBI can now enter your home or business without a court issued search warrant and without probable cause, examine or confiscate any of your property, and tell you that they have been there “within a reasonable length of time”. This “reasonable length of time” has not yet been established by the courts. They can do so under the guise that they are engaging in an “ongoing investigation” into terrorist activities. Furthermore, if you happen to discover that they have entered your home, you are prohibited by law from telling anybody about it. There is a proposed amendment to the act that will completely remove any judicial authority from the process. This essentially negates the Fourth Amendment to the Constitution which guarantees all Americans the “…. right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures ….”. The Patriot Act is now permanent. Why isn't it up for renewal every year until we win the "War on Terror" or as it has been recently renamed "The Long War"? Well no need for us to worry since that applies to terrorists. That reminds me, I wonder how many times I hear the word terror, terrorist, Osama, dirty bomb, and 9/11 every day now? Do you remember when a terrorist was some bearded guy a long way away dressed differently, with different beliefs and an AK-47? Not any more. Homeland security has expanded the definition "Because the attacks could be caused by foreign terrorists; domestic radical groups; statesponsored adversaries; or in some cases, disgruntled employees, the perpetrator has been named, the Universal Adversary (UA)" (Source). WHAT?? I've been disgruntled at work before.......you mean the Patriot Act will apply to me?

Illegal wire-tapping is such a harsh phrase. Let's just change it to "domestic surveillance".

Did you know that the FBI and the CIA are now cooperating in the United states to spy on American citizens on United States soil as part of the “ongoing investigation” into terrorist activities? Prior to this agreement, the CIA was forbidden from operating in the United States.

I was just thinking about the Patriot Act again and I remembered that, "When President Bush signed the reauthorization of the USA Patriot Act this month, he included an addendum saying that he did not feel obliged to obey requirements that he inform Congress about how the FBI was using the act's expanded police powers" (Source).

Did you know that the United States Supreme Court recently refused to hear the appeal of two reporters (Time Magazine’s Mathew Cooper and The New York Times Judith Miller) who were in jail because they refused to identify the source of their information? According to Associated Press “Important information will be lost to the public if journalists cannot reliably promise anonymity to sources“ (Source).

"Cyberspace, or ‘Net-War’- If outer space represents an emerging medium of warfare, then “cyberspace,” and in particular the Internet hold similar promise and threat. And as with space, access to and use of cyberspace and the Internet are emerging elements in global commerce, politics and power. Any nation wishing to assert itself globally must take account of this other new 'global commons'". (Project for the New American Century).

"The Bush administration announced Thursday that the U.S. government will not hand over control of the Internet to any other organization, a surprise move that could presage an international flap" (Source). The United States Department of Commerce has total authority over the 13 computers that comprise the core of the address directory of the Internet -- the only source of free and honest information that we have left in the world. The president can have the Internet's domain name resolution system shut down literally with a few keystrokes.

"'It is not an optional extra.' For U.S. armed forces to continue to assert military preeminence, control of space – defined by Space Command as 'the ability to assure access to space, freedom of operations within the space medium, and an ability to deny others the use of space' – must be an essential element of our military strategy. If America cannot maintain that control, its ability to conduct global military operations will be severely complicated, far more costly, and potentially fatally compromised". "President Bush has ordered plans for temporarily disabling the U.S. network of global positioning satellites during a national crisis to prevent terrorists from using the navigational technology, the White House said Wednesday". (Source).

Did we leave anything out? Your identity, traveling by car or air, your phone calls, your bank account, your Social Security, your privacy, the internet, freedom of the press, the use of certain "public" government buildings and the space around the planet.........oh I forgot - your home.

Did you know that the United States Supreme Court recently upheld a decision that, under the guise of “Eminent Domain”, the government can now condemn your home or business and force you to accept fair market value? They can bulldoze your home or business for a private development such as a Wal-Mart, a Chevron station, or condominiums to increase the tax base for the city. The law of Eminent Domain formerly applied only to converting blighted areas into a public use project such as a park, a school, or a courthouse for the good of all people (Source).

The Project for the New American Century has total domination of the globe as its goal. The people who created that organization now run the U.S. government. EVERY single thing they set out to do so far has been accomplished. Everything here has been confirmed in the mainstream media but it slips by us in tiny increments without notice one piece at a time every single day. Speaking of the media, did you know "Fox News contributor" Bill Kristol was a co-founder of the PNAC? And that Paul Wolfowitz the President of the World Bank is a member? Remember the "process of transformation" they desired was "likely to be a long one, absent some catastrophic and catalyzing event – like a new Pearl Harbor".

This country's ideals have been taken over and misrepresented by a small group of people that have no regard for the spirit of U.S. Constitutional or International law. Think back to September 10th, 2001 and remember the world then. One day later a terrorist who has never been caught committed a crime that has never been solved and now every minute of our daily life is progressively being taken over. Who really stood to benefit from 9/11?

There is a modern parable going around today that goes something like this: If you throw a frog into boiling water, he will jump out. But if you put him in cold water and gradually turn up the heat, he will slowly acclimate to the increasing temperature and eventually get cooked. This parable is incorrect. As soon as a frog hits boiling water, he is dead. There is no fighting. In contrast, no real frog is going to remain in the pot and boil to death. He will fight..........he will jump out!
