The main purpose of this page is to identify apparatus and their arrival times to establish estimated times
for when photographs were taken. The event timeline is taken from a combination of the Arlington County After-Action Report
and the Journal of Emergency Medical Services Magazine (JEMS). A link to the Arlington County After-Action report can be found at the bottom

9:20 a.m. FBI WFO (Washington Field Office) is notified that American Airlines Flight #77 has been hijacked.
9:38 a.m. American Airlines Flight #77, carrying 58 passengers and a crew of 6,
crashes into the Pentagon.
9:40 a.m. Captain Chuck Gibbs arrives at the Pentagon.
9:41 a.m. Battalion Chief Bob Cornwell arrives at the Pentagon and assumes
Incident Command.
9:41 a.m. ACFD Truck 105 arrives at the Pentagon (took the hydrant).
9:41 a.m. Fort Myer Rescue Engine 161 arrives at the Pentagon (initial attack).
9:42 a.m. ACFD Captain Edward Blunt arrives at the Pentagon and establishes EMS
Control. EMS treated and transported 91 patients.
9:42 SERV 329 MWAA MCI (Mass Casualty Incident) Vehicle with Captain Harry Hopkins arrives at the Pentagon.
9:44 a.m. MWAA Foam 331 arrives at the Pentagon.
9:48 a.m. MWAA Foam 345 arrives at the Pentagon.
9:48 a.m. Assistant Chief James Schwartz arrives and assumes Incident Command.
9:49 a.m. FBI Special Agent Chris Combs arrives and is FBI representative to
Incident Command.
9:55 a.m. Captain Gibbs evacuates impact area.
9:57 a.m. Structural collapse in impact area.
10:15 a.m. Chief Schwartz orders full evacuation because of warning of approaching
hijacked aircraft.
10:38 a.m. Chief Schwartz sounds the all-clear, ending the evacuation.
2:00 p.m. Fairfax US&R Team arrives.
2:00 p.m. Second threat of unidentified aircraft causes full evacuation.
